6mm Microworld Barbarians – for a Dragon Rampant/Warmaster Chaos Army

Some of you may well remember this unit of Pikemen Pikemen and may well have wondered if there would be any more of this most diminutive of scales in the fantastical realms. Well there is and it comes in the form of some rather lovely, if very beefy, Microworld Barbarian Warriors who come under the Dark Alliance oeuvre. They’ve sworn their souls to Khorne, because I thought red would be nice, and I’ve mounted them on 10mm x 40mm mdf strips since it made painting a hell of a lot easier – rather than painting them separately and then mounting them in two ranks on 20mm x 40mm bases.

Barbarians

The unit represents half a pack of figures (along with a couple of command figures) and I’ve mounted the other half ready to paint. I’m thinking of doing the next ones as Nurgle followers. I bought one of the bundle packs (a couple of years ago now – and was taken a bit by surprise with import duty – booooooo to import duty) so I’ve got pretty much everything needed for a sizeable army.

Just what I need, another project.

Current projects are (in no particular order):

6mm mechanicus

6mm fantasy chaos

10mm sculpting and painting

15mm sci-fi

And any 28mm stuff I get distracted by.

Oh well. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

Thanks for looking.

  1. I love 6mm models placed on big bases. The way you incorporated 40mm x 20mm bases onto a larger scenic base is brilliant. You get to play two games with one bit of work. You paint jobs are great too. It’s nice to see another 6mm enthusiast. Those hairless Barbarians certainly look menacing!

    1. Cheers Ronald. I always find basing a bit of a struggle and am still trying to find a solution that I’m happy with. I’ve just finished off a new experiment with a unit on one base, but using fewer miniatures – basically for economy as those lovely Microworld figures have a sting in their tail when the import duty is added on.

Thanks for the comment and I’ll hopefully have a new picture up soon.
